Frances Watson says:We had a fantastic stay at the hotel. We stayed for a 5 night break & couldnt fault a thing. Excellent owners, very caring & friendly & lovely staff too. They even re-organised my sons teddies on his bed after they had re-made it in the morning. Breakfast was very good - filled us up till tea time, clean rooms - nothing was a problem. We chose this hotel after reading reviews & very glad that we did. If we return to blackpool will definately stay again & will recommend to all our friends. Nice touch re-arranging the jam so that all the blackcurrant ones were on our table - my son was very excited that you did that just for him. Even gave my partner a birthday card - its the little things these people do to make you feel welcome. Thankyou very much Peter, Fiona & staff xxx
Our Reply:Hi Fran, Russ & Ben, Thanks for your very nice comments, pleased you liked our breakfast, Ben loved his BlackCurrent Jams & our Hovis toast. Hope you had a great birthday stay Russ and liked our Birthday Greetings on the window display. Sorry it's been quiet, but nobody seems to know the illuminations are on in the 1st week of November. Hope to see you all again soon. Fiona, whistling Pete & Staff xxx

James Carter says:Stayed at the rockcliffe hotel from the 22nd to 25th October 2010The Hotel was clean but that is the only positive comment i can postWhen we arrived at the Rockcliffe there was no hows your journey or welcome greet it was more money! The first night there was no heating until 11 o'clock pmwe heard that we had stressed them because we asked for them to sort itBreakfast, there was one only person serving forgot coffee, toast waited 25 mins before they took order they had taken other orders before ours the services was not good at allalso i am now surfing the net looking for a new passenger wing mirror as the owner snapped it by pushing it back(they dont push back because they are electric)he didnt even ask!So all in all i am really sorry to say i will not be staying there again and as i know alot of people in the b&b and hotel industery i will advice them to stay clear. The hotel is over priced and is costing me an extra £80 for my mirror. So Cheers Rockcliffe!!!!
Our Reply:JUST TO PROVE WE PUBLISH GOOD & BAD REVIEWS ON OUR WEBSITE. - This review was already answered on TripAdvisor, where yourself and friends (party of 4 on same trip) entered two bad comments there also. This is the answer that was also printed there!! - Thank you for letting us know we have a clean hotel. This is our number one priority. As is Customer satisfaction and making sure we give all our guests the best service and making sure their stay is a pleasant and enjoyable experience.I cannot believe we were not courteous on your welcome, as we have a "Welcome to Excellence" qualification and part of our training is to always give a warm and courteous welcome to all our guests. Money is not our number one priority on arrival, your first experience of our Hotel is the most important factor of your stay with us. We make sure that all our efforts will be made to cater for your needs. On your first night, the temperature in the Hotel was 22.5 degrees C. Therefore the thermostat to the bedrooms would of triggered off. No one else in the Hotel even wanted the heating on as it was so warm, and uncomfortable, you were the only four sat in our bar with coats on???? We were not stressed about it, as it was a simple case of moving the temperature gauge on the thermostat.Sorry about your wait at breakfast time, but we did have a series of illnesses with staff over your weekend, which is unfortunately not under our control. There is usually a wait at breakfast as every meal is freshly prepared and cooked separately, we do not pre-plate meals as other hotels do.As for the wing mirror, after I moved it back, you did comment and told me that it was broken, and was held back with a screw, and you apologised that you had forgot to tell me. Electric mirrors as you say all are capable of being pushed back. How you can say our Hotel is over priced? We have never increased our prices in over 5 years. You paid £40pppn for a Luxury Sea View room, including a large 9 item full English breakfast, choice of starters, Pancakes & Maple Syrup to follow. You also added a child in your double room and brought your own cot, and we knew nothing of this? We did not charge extra for this child. You paid £35pppn for a Sea View Double Room with the same breakfast also? I would say our prices are not over priced as you put it. We are sorry you have had to pay £80 for a mirror, but we think it was necessary anyway as it was already broken before you arrived at the hotel. AND ALSO THE REPLY TO YOUR FRIENDS POST ALSO ON TRIPADVISOR (NOT YET PUBLISHED BY TRIPADVISOR TODATE)- Thanks Stevewash from Huddersfield for your review. But did you need to write this review when "Carter5507" from your same party of two couples from Huddersfield wrote a review on the 26th Oct 2010 headed "Worse Hotel Stay Ever" I think I answered most of your questions then? First of all can I say we don't have all the answers, and we certainly do NOT do excuses. Room 4 (Sea View Double) is a standard size double room, it is not as large as room 6 which is our Luxury Sea View room, which your friends were staying in. But you paid £35pppn and your friends paid £40pppn for the larger Luxury Sea View room with lots of addional extras. We advertise very clearly on our Website that we do Karaoke on a Friday & Saturday evening, but we only have a license to run it till 12:30 in the evenings, with the exception of New Years Eve, when we can run it till 2am. If you did not like noise then why did you book online two rooms on the first floor above the Karaoke Stage area? And why did you book at our Hotel.? Just to let you know our Karaoke is only a bit of fun and entertainment for our guests, it is not played very loud! and we only accept couples and families in our hotel. Our Dining room would of been very busy on your stay as it was the English October Half Term week. We are busy because we get so many guests returning year after year, they love us, and our Service we have to offer them. As I said to your friends on their review on the 26th Oct, We were short handed with Staff on that one morning, we even employed a temp for the nine day period to increase our staffing levels from four to five, which is very high for just a 16 bedroom hotel. This is equal to one member of staff to every three rooms. But how was we to know that I for one along with one other member of staff were bit with an illness at that time. In this line of work we have to keep going in spite of illnesses, unlike people in permanent non self-employment, who can take time of work and stay in bed, which is what I desperately wanted and needed. Yes we have a "Welcome to Excellence" qualification, which we are very proud of, but not every day especially when you are ill can you enforce that we always enthusiastically put this into place.Karaoke was run on Friday night, however on Saturday evening I was too ill to run it. “Car parking another fiasco”? Sorry don't know what you mean by this comment? Only one star for Value? We believe we are worth more than that?Only one star for Rooms? our rooms are one of the cleanest and well maintained rooms in Blackpool.Only one star for Service? We believe this to be unfair, apart from the Breakfast being very busy and short handed on service on that occasion; our service was second to non at all other times of the day. Thank you for adding a second poor review on tripadvisor from the same party of four on the same trip. Maybe you should all have ago at trying to run a hotel sometime, then you would not be so eager to try and destroy all our hard efforts to please our guests. Best Regards Fiona & Pete & Staff
